I ve got the satnav/phone in one of those and have this under the mirror stem, connecting the two with something like this .
Been using this for a few years, never had a problem with it coming loose or anything. Fairly waterproof as well. Ends up being quite a bit more expensive than your case but I couldn't find any reasonable way to mount that on a clip-on bike.

I've been using this one for a couple of weeks. It's specific to the iPhone (4S, though they have a 5 version too). It hasn't come off yet, and my commute includes some very bumpy and NSL roads. I haven't used it yet in really heavy rain, however, just light rain and for short periods.
I wouldn't trust any connector, btw. I always attach the case to the bike with a tether as well. That way, if it bounces off, the phone will just dangle a while next to the tank until I can pull over safely. This case comes with a tether. ____________________ Current: '14 VFR800X Test passed 31/10/12.

Unsure if this is any good for you, but a biker friend brought one for his Samsung phone, which sits like a sat nav holder on the bars & its waterproof. He connect a charger to the battery so the phone is always on charge ect. Hes used it the past few ride outs and its sturdy. Am thinking of getting one myself.

You may be over thinking it. I just use a cheapo car grabby-mount for my technophone, with the sucker pad hacksawed off and the stalk professionally attached to the bars (i.e. cabled tied).
Phone goes in a gel case, it sits more or less behind the screen, job done. It's not coming out of there unless the bike goes over.

If I get really fancy, I might bodge up a little hood for it to keep the elements off and shade the screen. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I can vouch for these, except I can not see the screen because of the glare unless it's at night! ____________________ Current: '03 Tuono RSV1000, '05 Van Van, '91 Zephyr 550
