Guys,

I have been looking at some parts and have noticed that you can buy full sets of brake pads made by pyramid for about £30 (2 packs of fronts and 1 pack of rear).

Are these a waste of money or do they do the job ok? does anybody have any experience of these? (not "these were ok on my Chinese 125" type advice)

Or am I better off just going with the classic EBC type.

Money is not the issue - I just don't like wasting it if something will do the job just as well.

Also, due to lack of use my battery is Dead - completely dead and therefore needs replacing. I can get a Yuasa for about £45 but there is a lexteh or something on amazon for about £25

any experience on these things? will I buy this and it just not hold it's charge and ending up buying another or will it do an acceptable job?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty fussy with brake pads. IMO, it's really worth spending the extra on the fronts. SBS pads are superb, you can get a set of sintered for £40 for the fronts, any old cheap shite in the rear will be fine.

Never got on with EBC pads.

Batteries - Look at Varta. Cheap batteries don't last and are false economy. Varta batteries won't break the bank but last extremely well. (Yuasa are good too.)

Another +1 for Varta, also Motobatt are exceptional.

Brake pads, I'll spend the extra on the CBR, but for my Vara or equivalent, Kyoto pads work fine.

Confirming my suspicions really.

It's for my ZX9R - I just wanted opinions on the cheaper pads and if they are reasonable or are just crap.

Batteries - I will just buy something decent.

Buy once, cry once.

I bought Armstrong Pads once, I thought them away after <500 miles cause of how shit they were. I'll never go cheap again!

Ferodo pads are good and were cheap when I bought them. Have some carbon Lorraine now which are god awful.

bought goldfren gp5 brake pads, rated as track use only. used them in anger at silverstone after bedding them in on the road. was impressed. edit- £40 for the full front set.

the road versions are the ones people moan about, they are shit. a mate had a set fracture apart on a track day.

my Penny Coin Penny Coin worth

I fitted Armstrong sintered pads on 1800 Goldwing. It did stop but needed noticeably more pressure than EBC pads.

The best pads I have ever had were Bendix pads on my busa. Recommended by the UK busa forum they transformed the Tocico six pots on there, which have a dubious reputation at best.

Bloody expensive though, £50 a caliper if I remember right.

I wouldn't even fit EBC pads to my car let alone my bike, I know it is subjective, but consider my EBC discs fractured on my car.

I also dont like to fit EBC pads anymore. The black 'organic' ones are awful and the sintered ones feel like 2 blocks of wood if you get them hot.

Been using Ferodo for the past couple of years. No complaints.
