Chain Issues

hi all im new to this forum as I only bought my first bike yesterday

basically im abit confused as ive gone over my bike and when tightening the chain I noticed that the joining link is slightly larger than all the other links and this is causing the chain to tighten as it goes over the sprocket and is causing a loud nocking noise.

if anyone knows of any fix or cause for this any help would be great..

Is the larger link a split link or is it a "soft link". Sounds like it's the wrong size whatever. What's the bike/year?
