Hi,

I have a 2005 SV650N and have suddenly gone mod happy. I'm looking at installing a tail tidy and have ordered one from R & G. However, the bike comes with a Scotoiler which is attached to the current number plate. Since I've ordered a smaller number plate and would like the back looking sleaker, where would be the best place to relocate it?

There is already minimal space under the pillion seat which barely fits my chain and disc lock.

Anyway, any advice/pictures would be awesome.

Thanks,
Antony.

Incompatible with 'uncluttered'.

Lol, tempted to remove the whole thing actually. It was on the bike when I bought it, but then I will be doing a little more touring so it's handy to have.

I fitted a Scotoiler to my S1000RR nothing to be seen except the controller on the bar. It is all hided in the side pods of the seat cowl. They can be separated and the oiler unit stuffed inside. The filler tube ran around into the under-seat space for topping up.

Is it a 'touring' kit you have on the bike? I don't know if that will fit.

Scott oilers - or SCOTCH OILERS - are for people who collect beer mats and have non-ironic moustaches. Bin it and just oil the thing once a week in the usual way. Thumbs Up

Swap the touring edition for the standard edition (the one that Walloper has) as that reservoir can easily fit under the seat.

Howzit. It's dark now so I can''t take a picture of it, but it has the square reservoir as well as the tube behind the number plate. I don't know much about the models and such but it does seem a little bigger than yours. I left the receipts the last owner kept in the UK before I rode for Norway.

Edit: Yeah, looking at pictures it is the touring kit. I've spent a small fortune on mods in the last couple of days (got carried away) and not sure I want to buy a new Scotoiler as well.

Email Scottoiler and they'll advise. I think you have the standard V system with the HCR High Capacity Reservoir. You can retro-fit doing away with the HRC. May need from connectors from Scottoiler though.

I contacted Scotoiler and they said I need the RMV cage for securing it under the seat and the breather tube that usually connects to the reservoir. Still cost £40 anyway due to the postage to Norway which was a little steep. Thanks for your help and hopefully I won't have any issues!
