Hi all,

Been learning to ride for a little while now, already failed the MOD 1 so will hopefully pass next week. Road riding is fine, just slow stuff Sad. I'm from Kent and want to be riding before summer, so 'hi'

Are you taking the A1 route or the DAS route?
And what did you fail Mod 1 on? Loads of the members here have been riding for years, so they may be able to give advice.

Summer in the UK, you're joking right? Laughing

And welcome to the forums.

I put my foot down on the u-turn Sad.

I'm doing the DAS route, so fingers crossed will be looking for a bigger bike soon.

And thanks for the welcome.

Hi
I know how you feel with the U-turn, but in my case it was the slalom and figure eight.
I found this video really useful for the U-turn. it's American, so the measurements aren't accurate for our Mod 1, but the control info and particularly the cheese-cake tip are bang on.

All the best for your re-take. Don't forget to relax and breathe deeply before each section, and once it's done forget about it and on to the next. You will be amazed how quickly the test goes when you're ticking off the manoeuvres as done.

Mark.

I'm also in Kent so if you fancy some company on a ride, send me a pm Thumbs Up

Good luck! You will bash the U turn in next time: never look down and if you feel like you want to put your foot down then you are going too slow, just up the revs a little!

Revs up & look where you want to go to for the U turn... & you will wonder what all the fuss has been about

Well I spent two hours on Sunday over at the test centre going through it all repeatedly, he made me do a u-turn after every single manoeuvre! After a few attempts I was doing it all well so fingers crossed my nerves don't get the better of me.

I'm in Thanet by the way so doing the test over Herne Bay Confused

Eh, easy enough to dab a foot down, you'll ace it next time.

Got anything in mind for when you're licensed up?

I did my MOD1 last week and the U-turn was the one bit I thought I would really screw up.
Before the test I had some practice on a quite road and was screwing up even then, even dropped the bike (still have bruised chin to prove it). Embarassed Sick
But once I was in the "cage" for some reason everything went fine, I think its the curbs that kept getting me outside on the road.
Anyway, if your foot is going down then you are riding too slow, keep the revs up, slip the clutch and use that back break. Look at where you want to go and not at the line on the other side, just imagine yourself riding off once you're round, even speed up a little. The examiner will stop you.
Good luck

I've got a GN250 sat on the driveway, but I'm quite liking the Er6n I've been learning on.

You might as well flog the GN250 now while there's still a few people on the old 25kW licenses who might want to buy it. Wink
