So I'm hopefully picking up one or the other on Saturday. Both have a 1k price tag. Have rode a GN125 before and found it to be comfy, although a little slow. Haven't ever ridden a YBR but hear they are faster?

Cheers guys Very Happy

i'd say test ride both and pick which ever you liked the most.

There both basically identical in terms of power, mpg and reliability they just look different.

If you still like both after test riding, then i'd go with the one that is in better condition; has a good service history, lower miles and more aesthetically pleasing.

If it was me, i'd go with the YBR, as i think it looks nicer than the GN Smile

Edit: and here's the MCN reviews of both bikes, tells u everything you'll need to know about them specification wise (if u scroll down, in the red table it tells u seat heights, bhp, torque, brakes, top speed etc etc and has a decent review of both bikes)

AFAIK, the last GN125 sold in the UK was in 2001. £1K for a 12+ year old example of a 125 that was built down to a budget to begin with is pretty optimistic, but I guess that's the way the 125 market is heading.

I'd suggest that you'd need be given reasons not to choose the YBR, but as always, you'll want a good example of any bike, not any example of a good bike.

Ive owned both of these bikes.

Had a gn 125 back when i was 17 for my first bike, was a cracking workhorse but like you said quite slow and unresponsive. Seemed to go forever on petrol and was extremely reliable.

I now own a 2012 registered ybr 125, had it for a year now, had no problems whatsoever and covered 13,000 miles on it using it everyday for commuting to work and social use. My brothers got a 2008 ybr 125 which is the model before mine and that is as nice to ride.

My little cousin has just bought a 2006 plate gn 125 which i had a go of the other week. It felt very slow and seemed to take forever to build up speed.

Overall i would have the ybr over the gn after owning both of them, however its all down to personal choice and what does it for you.

Just need something reliable to commute on two days a week. The rest is just pure pleasure. Having trouble deciding though. Found

Purchased our YBR125 in March 2010 and my husband learnt on it before me. I've been riding it for 18 months now and its a nice ride. Passed the MOT this year first time with no advisories, the bloke at the test centre said they are a good sturdy bike. But I may just be bias Laughing

From what everybody's saying i'd go with the YBR and if the GN is ridiculously slow, because it won't be fun to ride (in my opinion) on your 'pleasure' days. Thumbs Up
