Hi,
I have a slip on exhaust that has a 4mm larger internal diameter than the outside of the pipe i am trying to put it on. Does anybody know of a good DIY way of making up this gap, could I pack it with fibreglass wrap or would that compress too much over time. Or is there anywhere that sells some kind of spacer i can slip over??
Sam

Find some 2mm aluminium and cut a strip 50-60mm wide.

Measure diameter of link pipe. Add 2mm. Multiply by 3.142 and cut your strip of aluminium to this length.

Rub some soap on it and heat until the soap turns black, leave to cool naturally. This will anneal the aluminium and make it soft and easy to form.

Now wrap your aluminium shim around the link pipe, fit the can over it and tighten the clamp.
