Bought Suzuki XF650 Freewind in mint condition from a dealer 14000 miles on a 2000 plate it's only done 390 miles in last 4 years according to MOT's. question 1. the tyres have small cracks in between the tread blocks particularly on front tyre, nothing deep how do you check how old tyres are and is this due to lack of use, are they safe for a bit as not really got £200 spare for new rubber. Question 2. Got my mate to give it a run and he said when running in 3rd at 30/35 mph or slower it seems jerky not smooth is this normal. Never had a big single cylinder before so not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Tyre fine as long as the cord isn't showing

Singles don't like being laboured at low revs

1. Tyres have a date code on the sidewall. It's a four digit code with the first two digits representing the week number and the second two the year so, for example, 0112 would be the first week in January in 2012. Small cracks shouldn't matter but keep an eye on them for peace of mind. Thumbs Up

2. Use the gearbox - don't use a gear that puts the engine under strain. Razz
