Oil and Oil Filter changed at 10228 miles on 22 Aug 2011
Mileage now 14036 on 27 May 2013.
That's 3808 since last change.
Pics tell me that the oil is still little brownish so I'm OK for now? Confused

I would change that, if it's the 125 in your sig they have to work pretty hard and don't hold much oil so they like fairly regular changes.

For a 125, it'll cost you about a tenner to change the oil. It sounds like you depend on the bike so just bloody do it!

3808 miles on a 125? Just change it, it's not even worth your time to ask the question.

What he says.

I've changed the oil 3 times in 1700 miles on my YBR as it gets hammered everyday.

What ???

I've never once changed my oil in my YBR in 18 months and 8000 miles. I've had the bike serviced twice and they do it then.

Seriously, do I really need to change the oil more often than that?

On an air cooled 125? No, you don't "need" to. Heck, just ride it until it starts grinding and rumbling and then sell it. Rolling Eyes

Once every 1,000 on my CG, and even that's slightly more than what Haynes recommends. (Something like 900 mile intervals IIRC)

Change oil every so thousand miles (your manual will say), or failing that you achieve the required mileage to change, do it annually.

I would gauge the oil condition by it appearance it should be in km/miles or period of months.

How much oil will you need for a change anyway? Won't be much more than a litre I wouldn't have thought. Which will cost about £1.50, if that. Hence why my intervals are as little as 500 miles. Job only takes five minutes on a warm engine. Filter every other change. But then, I clean and oil my chain after each ride as well, so...yeah.

I do mine every 1k or monthly, whichever comes first.

The Varadildo has had 10 oil changes since October.
