Hi guys, i need the torque settings for the camshaft retainer bolt and the cam chain tensioner mounting bolts for my cbf 125. I have the haynes, but it doesnt seem to have the torques for them.

I was an idiot and over tightened a valve cover bolt and stripped the threads, so i have taken the camshaft holder out which has the thread, and will get it helicoiled tommorrow. The haynes has the other bolts torque settings but not these (that i can see). Anyone know or have the shop manual?

Im guessing about 10NM for the retainer bolt as it bolts to the camshaft holder and that is what is specified for the cover bolts that screw into the holder aswell and 5NM for the cam chain tensioner mounting bolts as they didnt feel tight at all loosening them. Does that sound about right?

They are probably the same for other similar bikes if anyone knows for them?

Help would be appreciated, i dont want the to be too loose but really dont want to strip any more threads!!

Cheers

All done now, did the camshaft retainer to 12Nm and the tensioner mounting bolts to 5Nm. Put the rest back together and fired her up, and ta da, no leaks now and she sounds sweet.

My friend helicoiled both valve cover bolt threads as the alloy is weak, so the helicoil will be stronger. Warning to all when torquing up those valve cover bolts, dont over do it!!.
