I've just bought a tzr250, looks nice and goes like stink. Can't wait until my practical test. It's covered low mileage (15,000 miles), has a full year of mot + tax and is in very good condition. So hopefully i shouldn't have much trouble with it like my previous stroker Evil or Very Mad .

My cousins mate has got a rgv250, it's an older one with the pipe either side, should my new bike be around the same speed as i will be chuffed with that as he told me he can beat most 400's and has beat many bigger bikes round corners.

Just can't wait now, i was going to get a 500 but as i'm still 17 the insurance is half for the tzr than it would be for a 500, and it's probably more fun. I know their not that good for commuting but i will only be using it a couple days a week.

Any one else know much about the tzr250 (power, top speed, etc), this one is the uk model not the reverse cylinder import models.

Hey there, sounds like youve got a good'un there mate!

Found this imformation (direct copy and paste) from https://www.umgweb.com/ about the TZR250 which you may find interesting (including top speed and that).

"YAMAHA TZR250
1987-92, 250cc w/c t/s twin,
50hp, 125mph, 40mpg, 280lb
Wild, excellent handling, well proven motor which can run to 35k, when most everything needs attention. Does 60-70k with a couple of engine rebuilds but it’s hard to tell when the motor’s going to blow. Lack of comfort, quick wear mono-shock bearings, rotting brakes and poor frugality aren’t so inspiring. Thrashed, crashed and neglected bikes abound! "

Hope this helps!

Also, that site has reviews written by owners of different bikes, all of them are very well written and interesting to read (especially ones about your own bike). They also have data on most second hand bikes from 90cc upwards! Couldn't find any on the TZR250 though Sad .

Cheers

They dont seem to have your bike mate, theres some similar Kawasaki 400s listed though, but I dont know if the state of tune / capacity is the same.

I've got one of their books lying around somewhere which im sure features some imports, Il have a hunt and if I find it il copy up the review (if its in) for you.

Owners reviews of different bikes on the site are:

Honda: https://www.umgweb.com/popjap1.html
Kawasaki: https://www.umgweb.com/popjap2.html
Suzuki: https://www.umgweb.com/popjap3.html
Yamaha:https://www.umgweb.com/popjap4.html
Euro Bikes:https://www.umgweb.com/popeuro3.html
British Bikes:https://www.umgweb.com/popeuro2.html
Harleys: https://www.umgweb.com/popeuro4.html

And the index for the Bike specifications and summerys is:

https://www.umgweb.com/popbuy1.html

Its a bloody good site, have a good look around it and youl find loads of usefull stuff.

Cheers (and sorry for the thread hi jack)
