So the garage still have my bike (since Thursday last) as it failed its MOT and they are going to replace the fork seals & chain/sprockets for me.

Thing is, since it's an old bike apparently they don't know which 'number' (I assume part number or something) fork seals they need.

The bike is an X-plate Kawasaki GPZ500S.

I was wondering if by some amazing stroke of luck anybody here knew the 'number' for the fork seals of this bike so I can call the garage and let them know?
I will do anything for you if you can help me. Yes, anything.

The weather is nice and I hear it isn't going to last...I really want my bike before I go away for 2 months in just under 2 weeks time! Not to mention the logistical problems of moving out of my house in Reading and potentially having to leave the bike at the garage in Reading...

Sounds like a great place that can't find a set of fork seals

Just order from Wemoto and drop them down to the place. Or better still, do them yourself or take the bike to somewhere competent.

If they fail then you can guarantee that it'll be the part at fault rather than the work done by the garage if you provide your own seals.

Excuses.

All they have to do is take one out and measure it. That is assuming the size isn't printed on the seal.

They said that there was "no number" on the seals.

They sound like a bunch of useless cunts to be honest.

If I were you I'd be taking my machine elsewhere from now on.

Ehh, they're doing what they can. It's a pretty small place, just a guy and his wife, he's hurt his back so I'm not going to pressure them. He did tell me what it would cost beforehand so I'm not too worried about being overcharged.

I just want my bike back with a few days to ride it before I go away. Oh, and I want to pick up that girl whose number I got on the bike on Thursday Laughing (Yes that's probably the main reason I want this done ASAP!)

Ring up a shop. They will ask what bike it is. Parts will be sent out to you.

It's not difficult.

Does he have alot of other bikes in for work?

Well they said they'd do it as they have the bike now, I'd feel a bit rude (and pointless) ordering parts myself and sending them on to them.

But the chap has messed up his back over the weekend according to this wife so was off today, but she told me it was "on the ramp".

Don't tell me I'm naive for believing it Shocked

I work on my own. I order parts for bikes i dont have to hand all the time.

The only time its ever an issue is if im given the wrong info from the customer.

'its on the ramp' is POSSIBLY an excuse...
