It says 'produced' in Sit-ifriku... but it's certainly implying its a generic parts bin special.... and at half price of Honda CRF250?

Tempting, to be honest..... that's chinky 125 money! Implication it's 'mostly' made in china and assembled in a South-African sweat shop.... but then? Aren't a lot of modern BMW cars we have on our roads?

More hunting:

Quote:
Description: Developed by South African whiz kid Mike Puzey, the BRM 300 is the first ever South-African manufactured motorcycle. Powered by the Italian TM engine, this 2-stroke race machine is making waves in events against world-famous race-winning brands, holding its own and even out-performing many competitors in its class. Already cementing its presence at the Roof of Africa 2012, the BRM 300 is the best value-for-money 2-stroke your buck can buy.

Quote:
HISTORY
The Puzey family has business roots in Africa dating as far back as 1930. Originally a vehicle franchise, Puzey & Payne Ltd (later Puzey & Diss (Pty) Ltd) became the sole sales and service agent for a variety of vehicle brands including DKW, Rolls Royce, Dodge, Leyland, Wolsey, Austin, Amyl, Hudson, Morris, Cord, BSA, Morgan, Jaguar, Ford, Star, Mazda, Mini and VW through numerous dealerships in northern and southern Rhodesia.

It was into this largely mechanical family that Michael Puzey was born in 1966. Inspired by his father, the renowned Formula 1 ace Clive Puzey, Mike was already able to strip and rebuild his go-kart engine by the age of 5 and by the age of 11, built his first Motocross bike by welding together cannibalised scrap parts.

However, it was not just the continued exposure to cars, motorbikes and racing that inspired Mike as he soon developed a passion for aircraft. And at a younger age than most, he qualified as an aircraft engineer and commercial pilot, even going on to build his own plane named the “KR1”.

Quote:
Puzey also went on to become the first company to develop and manufacture off road sport machines in China. The XTR-F and XTR-LC2 were simple air and water cooled machines that proved that a reliable low cost bike could be manufactured in China and compete with top brands in competition.

Quote:
The next step would be another first for Puzey design, leading the way in bigger capacity 4-valve high output engines to be manufactured in China. These machines were the first to equal the performance of top branded machines in the market. Smooth to ride and with exceptional handling, the XTR-4 300cc and 500cc were breaking new ground in China and exceeding all expectations in performance, while remaining reliable and affordable (selling at 60% of competing branded products). The XTR-4 range was produced in four versions: MX, Trail, Enduro and MTD with an adventure machine based on these frame designs to follow.

Seems the blokes a bit of a boffin..... he's desuigned gym equipment & pool cleaning devices... and THIS:-

Googled the name, and yes, one of their other bikes is definitely a rebranded pulse with a 200 engine in it = chinese.
They also have a 2t 300, Which has a TM engine in it.

I'd take a punt if I wanted something like that, not a bad price.

Yeah, its down on power... but around town, thats fine.

When I think of it, my 600cc single was only about 40hp.

How much power do you expect from a 300cc four stroke Single?
26bhp is useful enough; and respectable in the class.
It double what you get from most 125's, but 'peak' power figures are only 1/4 the story, its how much power an engine has available accross the rev range that matters, because that's the power you have to put to the road at anything other than flat out; and 26bhp from a 300cc thumper, is likely to mean a nice flat power curve with large gollops available on demand on the throttle, as opposed to the 30 from a two-stroke 125 screamer, which might make 30bhp, but probably has barely half that available on the throttle most of the time. Some-times it's not about big numbers; and especially so on dirt bikes where tractability and predictability is what you want to keep the thing moving without bogging or spinning.

I wonder if they'll make a KTM Duke style road bike with the same engine. I'd want one of those...supermotos just look painful to ride...

Bit bigger, plus a fair whack pricier.

I wouldn't say that are bad to ride at all..

You think a normal naked would cost them more to make? I don't want a KTM Duke 390 since sitting on one at the MCN Show; they are far too small for me. Put that together with the silly price tag (£4500 for an Indian bike!) and the reports of bits falling off at random, I think I'd rather take my chances with a chinese bike!
