After 3 hours of riding it like I stole it I finally decided to go back home. As I was cruising through an industrial estate I slowly approached a roundabout.. As I was half way round roundabout I think I was overgenerous with my throttle and I sent my bike spinning on the tarmac Neutral

A van man helped me to pick up my bike and offered I could use his phone. I said I was fine only my right hand hurt a little and once I assessed the damage I was convinced that I could just ride it. I had to bump start it though (I expected that with carbed bike anyway).

Result:
- destroyed one piece suit
- brake lever bent
- brake pedal broken
- right indicator f00ked
- right mirror f00ked
- right side fairings scratched
- end can joint scratched
- pride severely hurt

Is that damage on your tank too or the light being a gay?

Still looks ok to ride Wink That suit is still tidier than my gear.

That's exactly why you should always wear the proper gear. Thumbs Up. Damage looks light, and main thing is you're ok!

Got off very lightly, but it's humbling having these little offs once in a while. I get them on a yearly basis. They usually involve riding very slowly, and more often than not, after a long hoon!

Your mind hasn't readjusted to riding at 1/4 pace which undoubted resulted in that slide. Happens to us all... and yes, wear your scuffs and scars like a badge of honour!

If that was the case, would the OP not have binned it earlier in the day when....

The damage to the bike is surprisingly light. When I hit the ground I couldn't believe it.

I used to go round the sharper bends hundreds of times and at higher speeds and lower lean angles with no problems.. this low side puzzles me, my confidence is a bit shaken obviously

The tyres were hot after hours or riding.

EDIT: Today I recorded most of the day with my Drift, the battery lasted about 3 hours.. but it was dead by the time I had the lowside.. a bit shame Razz Also the recorded material is not YouTube friendly as my speedo is clearly visible.. I would have to cut 90% of the footage Wink

Yeah.. I always wear my gear.. but the one piece suit is usually for special days like today when I know the speed is involved. The suit did its job well as I have no bruises, rashes etc. like it never happened. It's just funny that shit happened when I was riding slow Wink

I need to get the mirror, indicator, brake lever/pedal ASAP. The longer I wait the more I'll be thinking about it. It's not healthy Razz

Rather economical use of the term "dropped" Laughing

It's a J model? Replacement bits shouldn't be too hard to find. Personally I'd leave the fairings as battle scars Wink

Me tootling to the end of my street on my 2 week old bking, stopped. Get ready to go and, dropped the bike because I did not accelerate enough for the slight incline on my street. That's a drop.

Yours is a CRASH Razz

Well.. I crashed a bike once in the past.. so compared to that the ZX6R was dropped Laughing

I probably won't bother with replacing the fairings. I need just brake lever/pedal, mirror and indicator.. all bits for total £50 from ebay and the bike is ready to go back on the road. I intend to keep this bike anyway and use it as a track bike once I buy a newer road bike.

I will replace the right panel ONLY if I see one really cheap on ebay.

Ok.. I'm a bit in a hurry so I spent £71.89 as I want the bike back on the road ASAP.. It could have been cheaper, yes..

https://imageshack.us/a/img577/9158/ebaymk.jpg

.. no drama there. But as I was going through bits for ZX6R on ebay I found this....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380551549382

Quite interesting and judging by the photo it looks great. I wonder what the quality is like. And how long it takes to get it shipped from Hong Kong.

Is that for one indicator?

Shame, always liked your bike when you've whored it out

Yeah.. one indicator.. rip-off isn't it? Wink

Once the right hand panel is replaced it's pretty much back to the state it was before. Unlucky it was the right side panel, they seem to be harder to come by. The left one is available on ebay for 80 quid.

If I'm annoyed about something it's the leathers.. It took me a while to stretch them to fit me nicely Crying or Very sad

Parts for the J2 are a pain in the arse to find, i'd leave the fairing and wait until one shows up on ebay.

Bit of stitching those leathers will be fine. They're supposed to have scuff marks!

Glad it was not more serious.
was it a case of the ol' "concentration lapse because you're near home and on familiar turf"?

I probably was too relaxed and sitting lazily on the bike.. kinda thinking about everything else but focusing on present time and riding.

I had to go home to get the car and pick up my son from school at 3pm.. I was thinking where to go with him after school.

Then after the "crash" all I was thinking on the way home was what to tell my wife so she didn't freak out (it's a sensitive subject since the crash I had in 2009) Laughing

I'll see whether they can be fixed/stitched. They were cheap leathers, but I like the feel of them now and I would prefer to keep them.

After owning a G model for 7 years I can confirm that the R+G kit would have saved all of that.
