HELP! Sorn and tax

My CBR 125R is on sale now and the tax runs out on June 30th.
As I'm no longer insured on it, I can't get it taxed. As it's a 125, having it up as SORN will put of a lot of potential chavs!

I just called up Carole Nash and they have a 14 day money back thing (minus £25 admin charges). I was talking to a fellow named Wayne from Carole Nash who advised me that it highly frowned upon to insure a bike to get tax on it, and then cancel a policy. But he "couldn't" tell me if he would recommend it.

E bike will insure me on it for 1 month for £500... umm no.

I was wondering how to get around this and get my bike taxed. The way I see it is:

Get it insured in my dads name for one month, get tax. (Can i do this as the letter has my name on it?)
Get it insured in my name, get tax, cancel policy.
SORN it and suffer the lowered value of my bike.
Sell it ASAP like in the next 3 weeks.

Cheaper to knock the price of the tax off the asking price.

Recent SORNing will do little damage to the value of your bike.

A new MOT will more than compensate.

£16-£17 quid in tax isnt going to put anyone off.

condition,service history.mot are far more relevant

if anything just put "sorn'd,so you wont get any nasty letters from the dvla later"


plus on a side note, isnt it now illegal NOT to declare sorn on an uninsured vehicle?

to unsorn, it must have all its legally required to be on the road, insurance, mot and tax, thats it

It should technically be SORNed now seeing as it isn't insured. You may be getting a request for an £80 bribe in the post.

as long as the system says the bike is uninsured.. it spews out the letter

i have an old escort cab in storage, and i still have to declare it sorn, and that hasnt been on the road for 5yrs

hows longs a piece of string,, the whole system seems very random,
not everyone gets caught straight away, and they can be very anal about it

back to cars, i got a letter for a car that thankfully i was able to prove was crushed 2yrs later....

or is it more of a:
"You have 28 days to SORN or we will fine you."
