Their cameras never were that great (I had a 1st gen that had to be replaced after the lens went completely out of focus; it took 2 months to get that done), but the new Hero 3 series are something else:

There is still a bit of a gap in the market for a half decent name brand to release a budget HD sports cam with a selection of mounts.

I bought a Drift, because I happened to have bought a Drift.

Won't be buying a Go Pro anytime soon if, no I really do mean when, I smash this one up off roading, after reading that. Thumbs Down

Update for Case #xxxxxx - "GoPro Issues DMCA Takedown Over Negative Review"

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up on this issue.

The letter that was posted next to the review on DigitalRev was not sent in response to the review itself. Obviously, we welcome editorial reviews of our products. This letter was sent because DigitalRev is not an authorized reseller of GoPro products and they were using images and had incorrect branding and representation of our product in their online commerce store.

As part of our program, we ask merchants who are selling our product to use authorized images. That is why DigitalRev was contacted.

However, our letter did not clearly communicate this, and that is something we will correct.

Many Thanks,

Joe S.

So, they use copyright law to ensure merchants don't use their own product shots?

Sounds more like a PR person's "quick lets think of an excuse!".

Utter bollocks. When you issue a DCMA takedown notice you do it for a specific URL. The URL wasn't even part of the store, it was on their blog. It was deliberate. This is just failed backtracking.

Surprisingly, it's not a negative review. They recommend the GoPro

TheGardenSnake off youtube did an honest review on the new gopro and he hated it, surprised they didn't remove his video. Drift saw the review and sent him a Drift HD ghost Laughing

I have a mate that bought a pair of go pro hero 3 and two of every accessory without any research, and has been thoroughly dissappointed.

I use several cameras and I was impressed with the GoPro. The accessories maybe not so bling but all function well.

My critique is with the software app they use. Not very managable if you have limited PC savie. (But 'I' manage, you cnuts Smile)

The image quality is better than some of the other 'like' equipment I looked at. It may be a bit pricey but it does wot it says simply.
