Do you find that buying a bike is one thing, but then the real expense starts.....?

Since getting my beasty I have brought:

Crash protectors £100
Ohlins Steering damper & Harris fitting kit £300
Rear seat hump £98
paddock Stand & bobbins £75
New mini torque wrench to reach those 7nm settings £45
36mm Socket for steering stem nut £7.99
Tax disk holder £ can't remember.......
Tank protector £10

Done an oil change and service myself:

Oil and filter
Washer for sump plug
Antifreeze, premix
Chain lube and cleaner
Spray grease for levers
Seat release catch, replaced the old one

Around £80, a big hunk of that was the seat release.

The running costs:

Insurance £900
Tax £60
Disk lock £30

I need an alarm ideally, £350.....

It goes on and on.....

Thank God after selling my last bike I did not sell all my clothing and helmet like I did last time!

Phew..... Cool A further £2k on top of the price of the bike.

Jeez your insurance is a lot! I know what you mean, if you're starting out getting everthing for the first time. With a car you don't need all the safety equipment etc

Yep, us born again riders are high risk! Even though I have done quite a bit of riding over the last 5 years.

That is with 2 years no claims as well.

The actual insurance is £825, but I got break down and legal cover as well.

I suppose I should expect nothing less for an R1.

...and tyres...

...and chain lube...

I take it your 900 quid insurance is fully comp? Only get TPFT myself as I reckon if I'm daft enough to cause an accident myself I probably won't want/deserve the money for a replacement bike. I also hope this thought at the back of my mind will make me a bit more careful on the roads...

...oh and I can't afford fully comp...

EDIT: oops sorry, just noticed you had already mentioned lube! Smile
