How is my U-Turn looking? :<

I was bored, and thinking about my test, so I figured I'd see what you guys think of my UTurn, as it is the one thing that worries me, as in how much space I will have to do it in and so on.

You can turn fine, but you need to do a lifesaver before initially turning, then again after you turn, and for test purposes you need to lifesaver then push your bike to side of the road (best check with your instructor though)

You will instantly fail unless you make a lifesaver before the actual turn.

What's with pushing your bike to the side? I just rode the U-turn and sat where I ended up, he then said "OK Fine" and I rode over to him.

Yeah forgot about that, was just trying to get the turning down, kinda safe outside my house so I tend to do my checks less.

Ah yes - didn't quite understand what Yams meant.

I pushed the bike through the U-turn first then rode it back.

When I done my test, I was told that I had to do a u-turn, lifesaver then move to the side of the road.

I also had to walk through a u-turn too but that's not what I was on about.

I was told by my instructor you have to make all your observations noticed.

So, you have to look forward so you raise your helmet (indicating your looking into the distance)

Then look left (can't remember why, but it didn't hurt)

Then over your right shoulder then move off. If you move forward more than a bike's length in a straight line you are expected to do another life saver before performing the turn.

When you did your U'y you didn't stop paralell to the kerb and you were half way out into the road, you would fail instantly if you did that.

Also, try doing a u-turn just with your clutch and no rev's, it may be quite hard to do on a 125 but I suceeded doing it on an SR125.

Hit the front brake, get the rear wheel spinning, do half a donut, lifesaver then wheely over to the examiner ending it with a nice no-footed stoppy by his feet...

That'll most likely see you fail, but it'd be sooooooooooo cool.

You rode round 360 degrees, in one go. thats a fail.

You only need to walk your bike round 180 degrees. Then jump on it and ride it round 180 degrees.

do all lifesavers and checks.

remember not to stop near a junction or on a double yellow, when he asks you to stop for the u-turn.
Not ofter he'll play that trick but it does happen...

Try not to get an area with pot hole/crap etc on the road...

And dont worry about flicking up neutral whilst you are riding...

You can do that when you have stopped...

Yeah, I rode 360 because I was more worried about my ability to do the actual turn without needing to put my foot down, and was practicing that aspect of it, but all the advice is great, good to be well prepared.
And when I did a small half day learning to ride a geared bike with a CBT group, the instructor kept saying when I was doing my emergency stop that although my gear changing as I stopped was good, it was not necissary, and I should concetrate on just the stopping, worry about gears after I am stopped Smile
