Salutations

I'm trying to remove my R&G heated grips from the bandit and whilst the right hand one came off without much faff the left one is proving to be a little more difficult.

Unfortunately now what's happened is the rubber grip has come off the plastic tube which has the heating wires wrapped around it and no matter how I tug this plastic tube has decided to stay for a while longer.
I've tried getting a flathead under the the plastic tube to get some sort of lubricant up there but I can't get it very far without the plastic looking like it'll break.

Any ideas? I'd like to remove them so that they're useable if possible.

Thank you

Turn them on. Set them to maximum. Leave them for a bit then try again.

I did, left them on for 20 odd minutes, would you recommend any longer?

Get the wife's hairdryer on them for a bit of extra heat.

Will give it a bash. How hot do these heating wires get? I'll need to wrap a towel or something round the grip to pull it off and don't want it welding itself to the towel!

Ask Michael Dunlop to ride it. He'll rip them off after the first corner. Mr. Green

So, did you have to result to a knife or did heat and a manly grip win?

I haven't done it yet, once the sun went down I exchanged working on it for pipe & slippers next to the fire. Mr. Green
