Total Descriptions :

A short description about the Part-I trip is being put as main description will come from the Pictures that we have taken.

We started the trip at 7AM on 14th October 2007. This trip is a part of the West Bengal & Sikkim Tour. It features the Darjeeling Hills like Mirik, Darjeeling, Kurseong and many places in Between.

Gave our Beasts Fresh Petrol early in the morning to give it strength to discover and raid the Hills. After this we headed towards Dudhia and then Mirik. Had our breakfast and did a small site seeking beside the lake and started for Darjeeling. Mirik is around 50 kms from Siliguri. The weather was nice and we were feeling the breeze past us and the fresh air really gave us the boost to go on. We crossed many small hill stations until we reached PASUPATI Nepal Border. Although Bikes were not allowed to go near the Gate, we parked the Bikes in the parking lot and visited the gate and then continued the trip again.

The roads were somewhat broken but after some time it seemed like we entered to a totally different area or some magic was goin on. All of a sudden we could see the FOG with pine trees all around along with the tea bush. The roads was scratch less and we cruised at a speed reaching 105KMPH. It was totally different region.

Later after cruising some more time we reached GHOOM (the second highest Railway station in the world). Stopped there to wait for our Darjeeling members Vishal with his Bro and Anjan. They welcomed us to Darjeeling area and rode with us till Batasia Loop (an area with a park devoted to Army who were killed in the Battle). After that Vishal went to his Shop and Anjan was there to help us with the road directions etc.

We reached Darjeeling. at 12:30 AM and straight headed to Lebong to see the Tenzing Rock (under Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) where you can do some rock climbing). Then we head for the Rope Way and then to North Point School/college and we took the narrow lane to the Zoo and HMI (Both in same area). parking was not allowed near it. Entry fee Rs. 30.00. After some photo session we went to the famous Chow Rasta or MALL. Bikes not allowed. We parked the bikes some place behind it and walked our way towards it.

After walking around it we started to feel hungry so we headed towards the Darjeeling Market and entered the Restaurant PENANG near BIG BAZAAR / INOX . The place was cozy and the food tasty.

One magical co-incidence was noticed. We spotted the Mount Kanchenjunga. With snow capped peaks , smiling at us and Wishing us Best of Luck. It was just floating in the Air.

After that we again headed towards the Bikes and started our return Journey. It was 5:00 PM already. A bit sad as we had to leave such a cool Place and enter the Hot zone again after 2 hours. We also had to cover Kurseong But it wasn’t possible as by the time we reached Kurseong 7PM it was already dark. The rail line in between the Road was a bit dangerous for us and one of our member was about to skit in in. Thank god nothing of that sort happened. Roads again bad and we reached Kurseong.

Now there was one thing to decide, Which way to take?? Choices 1. Main Road (NH 55), 2. Pankhabari 3. Rohini (very steep and new rode). At last we decided to come down using the Pankhabari. The roads steep but we rolled down very fast. we saved 15kms of Hills and 1 hour.

We reached Siliguri. Tired. Last stoppage at xKmph Point. All Home and Fast sleep.

Sikkim is a beautiful scenic location which proves to be a fantasy destination of many a tourist. Its natural features are dictated by the most magnificent mountain range in the world which includes the Khangchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world. Sikkim tourist places offer several treks that take you through pine forests, beautiful valleys, monasteries and to mountain lakes. Mountain biking, river rafting, kayaking are the other adventures that tourists can enjoy.
