So recently I acquired a 1981 XS250, yet again, another eBay impulse buy. I can't stand watching the drivel on TV so try and work on bikes as much as possible. I think this time though I may have gone too far. Firstly, they're shit bikes to start with. Secondly the pile of shit parts are so shit I don't even know where to start really.
My aim for the bikes is get a rolling chassis, then get the engine built, put it all together and have a bike. I'll think about electrics/cosmetics at a later stage. I hate choppers/cruisers so it wont be one of them, possibly a tracker/cafe since the frames been mutilated by the previous owner so can't go back to original easily.

After endless grief with an endless cam chain I figured it out and got it roughly back together. Next issue is timing.

Mutilated frame ^, rear end has been chopped, seat brackets and some other pieces removed and it's covered in an awful red/orange concoction. I've thrown a load of paint stripper on it so I'm not blinded by it every time I walk outside. Also, yes the wheel is on the wrong way round before anyone points that out haha.

The lack of interest and regard for any of these bikes, is that apart from the Superdream with it's sales success, no one was interested in Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki 250cc 4strokes, when they all offered far more exciting and faster 250's. |
Cheers, I also prefer the monoshock ones but beggars can't be choosers. Should me an ok project as spares go for next to nothing so if anything something to learn on.
