Took my bike in for its MOT today. Bearing in mind that I've had this bike from new and it's only now just approaching its third birthday, it's been a while since I've had to bother.

Anyway, take it into the garage, ask in reception and they tell me they can do it straight away, nodding in the general direction of where I should take it. I check with a mechanic, who's sitting on a windowsill sipping a cup of tea, exactly where I should stop. He waves his hand to a mat and gives a grunt. I park up and go sit in the waiting area, from where I am able to watch the inspection.

Anyway after about 5 minutes, the guy who was sipping the tea comes over to the bike and does all the usual stuff with me watching on nervously. He writes some things down on a pad and disappears into the office.

After another 5 minutes he calls me over and there on the counter is my certificate - at which point I take out my registration document and explain I wanted it dated from the end of month which is when it will be three years old. He moans 'I've just written it all out why couldn't you tell me beforehand' I bite my lip and just apologise but what I'm really thinking is 'well if you'd done more than grunt at me when I came into the garage it might have helped, how was I supposed to know that you were writing out the certificate'.

At least my bike passed without problems... Very Happy

Pah. You want an MOT service like mine:

"Kev, my bike needs an MOT sometime soon"

"Right, I'll come and pick it up from your house"

Couple of days later, bike is delivered back to my door with MOT certificate and a fair bit cleaner than it was when it left. Tenner. Thumbs Up
