The forks on my yamaha YBR125 were a bit pitted so i decided to rub them down with sand paper and give them a new coat of paint. I was quite pleased with the results.

As you can see they are not looking too good.

I Decided to leave the forks on the bike a taped off the dust guards. I also sprayed a little bit of WD40 on the chrome of the forks so that the over spray would not stick.

The results, not perfect but its only a commuter.

On going project, but here is a snap of it in bits

Just gradually replacing all the parts on the bike to make it new as the parts for the YBR cost pennies.

I know, the head snapped off. Glad it was the only one.

Seem like the surface may need more prep before painting it I see some imperfection on the paint. But like the matte finish.

Hope you didn't get the WD40 on the fork seals, it fucks 'em.

really?

I remmeber someone showing a test with different types of oil like you would do in a lab but can't find it. I think WD-40 was the least of our worries. It was a test done with O-rings IIRC

Yeah it 'dries' them out, causes them to lose their elasticity.
