I am planning on getting either a Honda CB500 or Suzuki GS500 within the next couple of weeks and restricting it to 33bhp.
What sort of condition/age/milage bike can I get for £1700? I have had a look on BikeTrader but it varies loads.
Thanks in advance Smile

Hehe, I did see that one but its got too many miles for my liking (I am fussy) Sad

I have been looking in Bike Mart and seen some Y-Reg GS500 with only 5k on the clock for about £1700 saying VGC. Is this normal or a bit cheap?

low mileage for the price, but still perfectly acceptable

cb's will set you back slightly more than the gs's

Thats on the cheaper side for a Y Reg GS, private sale no doubt though?

I personally prefer the GS as its cheaper on Insurance and servicing.

But the honda has better build quality.

You really don't need to worry much about the mileage on CB5s, they go forever. Concern yourself with the overall condition, not that little number, cos a cared-for high miler is going to be better than an abused low miler.

GS's go forever too!

Bah, my bike is the sexiest bike ever.
Compared to any other GS500, or even any other ER5 CB500 etc.
Hell, put it next to any bike of your choice, I would prefer to be seen on mine, unless of course you place it next to one of those mini scamblers, that they have at kids adventure camps, for like 12 year olds, and the vertically challenged, because they are just too sexy. Laughing

But ummm anyway, on topic, GS500 <3
Enjoy it. Very Happy

Crazy Fool!

The MV is the best looking bike ive ever seen. not exactly affordable, practical or comforatble though, so i would preffer the ZZR as an every day bike.

the sad truth is, if i owned that MV, it would stay inside all day. I would be too afraid to take it out incase it rained, or someone scratched it etc :<
