Just had to do one of these for a job I've got lined up. I interviewed Tuesday and was told I would get sent an online test but this is what came...hardly a test.

Anyone had to do one for a job? what's the point if there is no right or wrong answers? To me there doesn't seem to be any negative results either so why bother?

depends on whether you want the job or not, if you want it fill the form in. I think they are all shite but its how companies do things.

Objective way of dismissing candidates.

It's much easier to give feedback like 'you don't fit on X category of the test'.

fairy muff

I've done it and answered honestly. Couldn't really see a means of blagging it since I don't really know enough about what/who they're looking for

Was expecting more of a technical ability test if I'm honest

Hey Ho guess I'll find out next week whether they still want me to come in for a day

No idea what a DISC test is but I'm guessing it's a psychoanalytical thing. Pretty useful in my opinion, as long as there are enough questions to gauge a real profile out of the person. Of course it's definitely always possible to blag it and just say what you think is expected, but then if they choose you for the job you'll probably find you're shit and don't like it anyway. That's what they're for - to get the right person matched to the job. It's one of the more fruitful things to come from the field of psychology Thumbs Up .

Most oil companies now use the psychometric tests, logic and aptitude tests, I had to do them for my last two jobs.

Think more companies are using them to thin out the pack.

I had to sit a maths test for one job I applied for. Needless to say I didn't pass to the next stage. Though why they needed maths is anyone's guess, you'd think people skills would be more useful for a customer facing job. Rolling Eyes

Depends, they may ask you to count customers.
