Just took my NSR to be MOT'd, and it failed Sad Mainly because the rear suspension has seized. I thought this sounded very bad, but apparently all that needs doing is to take the suspension apart, give it a clean, re-grease it and put it back together.

So.... where do I start with that! I don't have a Haynes manual, can I get the required info online?

It is pretty easy Thumbs Up

Their is a bolt that goes through the centre stand that holds the horse shoe shaped linkage on, so you will need to get the bike of the ground to remove that. The second linkage connects to the swing arm, and the shock absorber connects to the linkages and the frame. What year is the NSR? the bushings in the linkages will either be the roller pin bearings or just rubber bushes with metal inserts. Probably a good idea to check them out, they are about £70 for a set, ouch Neutral

I think the farings will have to be removed to get the shock off, again check the bushing.

If you need a new shock or linkages I have the lot, all with low mileage on it so is in good condition Thumbs Up

Hope that helps Confused

its a 1993 model, so it's been around a while!

Thanks for the advice... hope I don't have to take the fairing off because that's always a hassle...

Hi

You probably will have to take the fairing off. You need to support the bike with the rear wheel off the ground, but you cannot support it under the swinging arm as you will be unbolting the suspension linkage (and people do sometimes forget that).

All the best

Keith

There are scans of both the Honda NS and the NSR manuals floating around.

All the best
