hmm.
I've got my NSR125 booked in for an MOT today so I can sell it. I went to start it up just now and it started pretty quickly (wayhey) but the oil light stayed glimmering. Now I know it's not running out of oil because I topped it up the other day, plus I can still see oil at the top of the pipe.

When I rev the engine the oil light turns off, but when I stop revving it comes back on. Is this because the power hasn't fully kicked in yet (I think the battery is pretty run down because I've not used the bike for ages) or is it something more serious?

I really need to get it MOT'd today! Confused

I'd expect a dirty or corroded connection - have a look at the one one on the sensor on the bottle and see if its dirty, could be shorting out. Give it a spray with WD40.

Of course, if you want to be cheeky to sell it you can always disconnect the sensor or bulb and the light won't come on.

thanks Smile hopefully that means it's fine to ride to the MOT place, if I don't have time to check it myself before I go I'll ask them to have a look at it while they're checking everything else..

I don't think I could bring myself to disconnect it to sell it Laughing

My NS125R did that because it hadn't been started for a while and after about 30 miles it had gone off. Try taking it for a blast and see if that helps.

Have you already found a buyer then Izzi? How much are you selling it for? Cheers

not found a buyer no, still at the 'making sure it all works' stage!

And guess what.. it failed it's MOT Sad
Nothing too major really.. needs a new battery (which didn't surprise me at all and probably explains the oil light) but also the rear suspension has seized up. So I will be posting a thread in the workshop area shortly asking where to start with fixing that! The guy said it just needed taking apart and cleaning...

Well good luck with that! What kind of price will you be asking?
