I passed my driving test yesterday, (1 minor Mr. Green )

I'll be getting a cage and insuring it TPFT, I just wonder if many TPFT policies cover you to drive other cars. I only ask because my dad is getting a Jag XF next month Drooling

He'd be mental to let you drive it TP only with a month's experience. Laughing

Congratulations on passing the test. Welcome to the world of 4 wheel drifting. It's much harder to fall off. Very Happy

I know that, but I'm hoping I can convince him that is not the case.

I'd like to drive it before I get in the fiesta then i can say, the first car I ever drove after passing was a Jag Laughing

Hmmm comprehensive with Admiral is only £60 more...

They did for me as well. They really gave my sister the run around when she had dealings with them.

A van caught fire behind her car, they dragged their heels all the way through the process and were down right rude to her.

When somebody reversed in to her, it was much the same again but this time with the added excitement of incompetent staff.

I think it's £38 for any adjustments on the policy so just bear that in mind. That said, all insurance companies sting us for that bollocks.

Best option is to ring them and ask if their policy quote includes DOC coverage, I check each time I insure my cars as I have access to several cars through my family that I could drive if needed.

It seems to be getting common that an insurer will drop DOC coverage, or not include it as standard, unless you specifically ask for it... same appears to be true for pillion cover with bikes also.

Admiral are devious cunts, they tried to make the Mrs pay more money (£80-100 from memory) halfway through her policy because she apparently didn't declare one of my accidents. She told them to go back and listen to the recordings again - few days later they phoned her to say they had it wrong and she didn't need to pay up Middle Finger

Do you still need to declare speed awareness courses to Admiral?

I've had ride other bikes on a TPFT policy before, don't know about cars though.

My Admiral policy says nothing about having to be fully comp, just you have to be 25.

Loads, Laughing

I have fucked about with it.

I first started learning about 4 years ago, did about 10 lessons and gave up.

Then last year I did a week long intensive course and failed with 4 minors (3 in the same category)

I started again mid april, booked the test for as soon as I could and did 2 hours a week (ish) say 16 hours.

I felt proper confident for this test and fucking smashed it, the examiner said I was ridiculously close to getting a clean sheet, I just strayed into a cycle lane I shouldn't have on the way back to the test center.

The hardest thing was getting out of biker mode, I had the brain and attitude of an experienced road user but the clutch control and skill of a pleb. Laughing

The thing I had trouble with was using the center mirror. I automatically used the wing mirrors a la bike.

Took me a couple of days on an intensive course to kick the habit.

Depending how worried you are about NCB/ crashing a car and being without I'd spend the extra, then if you actually do NEED to claim on your own policy you can, just make sure you put the value of yours as high as you can find another of equivalent spec/condition for.
