A quick mention for Hood jeans. I ordered a pair of K7s with flexiform armour last Friday night. Dispatched yesterday by RMSD they arrived today. Superb quality jeans. The postage they charged was £6.99 even though it cost them £11. Plus they sent the wrong armour - the Advanced X rather than the flexiform. A quick phone call with a very friendly and helpful woman and they're dispatching a set of flexis by first class post tomorrow plus they told me to hang on to the ones sent in error.

Top company, top products. Thumbs Up

Had my Hood's for 2 years, used nearly every day.....sometimes washed more than once a month Smile

Fell off once, landed on hip, knox armour did it's job.

AND they are made in Britain (when I bought them they were).

I got myself some K7's a little while ago. very comfy and a better fit than my normal jeans. A little too narrow at the bottom to fit over my boots though. I can do it but it's not easy - fat calves you see Wink

Crashed in mine last year, came away unscathed. Jeans were shagged.

I crashed in my last set at about 60mph and they are still useable. They have a slight hole in the back pocket, but otherwise they look fine.

I've had my hood ND4's for around 2 years aswell. Really nice quality, totally covered in kevlar and alot cooler then my other bike trousers Very Happy

I did swap the armour, i had the thick foamy ones but they were uncomfortable, so i have some small sas-tec ones in the knees.

Well impressed with them, and they have a nice british patch sewn on Very Happy top notch guys!

I've got Hood olive green combats. Nice and comfy. If its not pissing down, they're what I usually wear on the bike. Not crashed in them yet though.

The sizes are spot on - you just order your normal jeans size. Thumbs Up

How does the knee/thigh armour stay in place, is it velcro-d in or stitched pockets?

I outgrew my draggin jeans, which were alright, and got some cheapo ones off ebay at the moment which are surprisingly ok. Might upgrade soon.. Hood have been on my radar.

It slides up behind the kevlar and velcros to it. The armour and the kevlar both have velcro stitched in place which means you can set the position quite easily and it doesn't move about. Thumbs Up

I like the look of these and no doubt they are a quality product but 40 quid for "armour" which is effectively just foam does seem excessive ,and does it really cost 6.99 to ship a pair of jeans.

They ain't light. The denim is a decent weight and the kevlar adds a fair bit too. The postage label (RMSD) on my parcel said £11 - they're taking a hit on the postage with this.

The flexiform armour is the stuff I've ordered and am waiting for - it's a fair bit thinner and more comfortable than the advanced x stuff (they sent me this in error and are apparently stopping supplying it). As I'm sitting around in my jeans I wanted the flexi stuff for comfort.

I'll let you know how the flexiform stuff compares when it arrives but the advanced x armour isn't just foam it's multi layer - it has a pretty hard layer sandwiched in there. I reckon it'll be effective and I'll probably end up replacing the armour in my textiles with it.

I ordered a size up, and I can fit a thin pair of normal trousers or shorts underneath if need be, but they're still fine on their own.

Yeah my sizes came up true Thumbs Up also just order your normal leg length, don't order longer. They already add a little bit extra for when your trousers ride up when sat down, they have you covered Thumbs Up

I have the advanced x armour and found it pretty bulky, so swapped, no doubt the new flexi stuff is because of this.

I do sometimes find the armour wants to sit on the inside of my knee, where i feel it should sit on the outside, but while riding i just shift it across a bit and it stays there Very Happy

I said I'd let Henry Hoover know how the flexiform stuff compares. It arrived today and it's a lot more comfortable, doesn't show anywhere near as much and is a lot less bulky than the advanced x stuff. It's also pretty solid where it matters - it'll definitely do what it's meant to do. Thumbs Up

After a lot of research I've purchased a pair of Hood jeans with the Flexiform armour. The fit is good and they look really well made with plenty of Kevlar coverage.

What swayed me was the real life crash reports on here and elsewhere and the attitude of the company. I was really impressed that they were quite happy to send out samples of their material which I subjected to a few tests. I had previously been in contact with the MD of Bull-it (the 'sh' appears to be silent) jeans, but when I asked for samples to test he ceased all email communication. I can only wonder what he had to hide and I'm not going to buy a pair of his jeans to find out.

I hope I never have to come on here to tell people how well the jeans stand up to a crash; I'll settle for peace of mind gained from the experience of others Wink
