Just given the guy's shite layout of a webpage, I wouldn't trust a word he says.

The major manufacturers spend millions on R&D and testing, I prefer to follow their recommendations.

Or maybe he's a mechanic and not a web designer. Rolling Eyes

This has been pretty much confirmed in a PB article by a Honda tech.

No, I'd say it's an indication that he doesn't have a scientific and methodical approach to his work. If he's no good at web design himself he can always get someone else to do it.

Well, I'm always willing to be convinced. Can you provide a reference to that article?

Perhaps he simply didn't want to spend money on something that won't make him a profit. Besides - its not *that* bad - I've seen far worse.

It was about 6 months ago, part of the biking myths feature. I'll try and dig it out.

Seems like the whole page is promotion for his business.

And all his theories, are made for his business gain, somehow.

It seems like hes is aiming his theories at thick people who would believe that kind of thing.

I recon if his theory "COULD" work, there would be trade off for reliability...

However i dont believe it has sufficient evidence or a good enough solid basis for his theories...

Well... There is only one way to find out.

Buy a dozen engines, break half in normally, half in like he says, and see which half comes out best.

Found it, its the December '03 issue.

PB wrote:
...The way we run in engines was established [for old bikes], but...the protocol hasn't evolved in step with the machines its applied to. Any modern Japanese bike can be revved to 80% of its capacity straight out of the crate, without risk to longevity. Fact. And the harder you rev it the more free revving - and powerful - it will be in the long run.
"If you don't run a bike in its going to be quicker at the end of the day" says Dave Hancock, Honda UK's technical development manager. "And if you run a bike in too slowly, or without letting it rev, at the end of the day it will be slow. The first time you try to open it up it will probably do nothing. It certainly won't rev as freely as it would otherwise."
In fact, the biggest danger when running in a bike is the risk of not thrashing it enough and loading the engine by riding in too high a gear. "The only thing that wrecks engines nowadays is labouring them," reckons Hancock, "when people ride around at 4000rpm in sixth gear."

Well, I feel a lot more relaxed about my rather liberal interpretation of the running in instructions on my bike now...

( still think the guy with the website is a bit of a loon though Very Happy )
