Does anyone know if the average speed camera between Antony and Torpoint is 'live'? I don't know if it ever became allowed to provide evidence for prosecutions?
(I'm not concerned because i've just been doing a Schwantz down there, I rode down it and was curious as i don't seem to have anything of late!)

Thought this was going to be about go-pro alternatives.

Never known of a camera let alone average speed camera down there Confused Never seen it and always ride down there

Charity ride a few weeks ago had like 50 of us go through there quick, no one mentioned it. Only average camera near there I can think of is over the tamar bridge Abd through the tunnel

I've never been done for speeding down there. Some of the jaspers queers stop in the layby before the 2nd camera, "just in case", but it may have changed in the last 6 months since I last rode there.

haven't been down there for an age as there are too many bikes down there and it tends to be crawling with unmarked filth due to the number if bike having fun.

i would think that they would struggle to get and accurate reading even from averaging speed cameras on alot that road due to the number of bends.

Why would the number of bends matter? It'd be easy enough to average over 60 between Antony and Torpoint, and the corners shouldn't affect the maths surely!

providing you have the exact distance - also there several villages on the twistie that have 40 speed limit so they have to be taken into accont too

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

just one of the 40 zones - did you not see that when you were doing you impressions

I reckon you're wrong. Unless somebody hAs built villages BETWEEN ANTONY AND TORPOINT and made them 40 zones that are yet to be on maps. And done so in the last 2 hours since my ride down that way...

lol, my bad, i thought you meant twisties, not the strait section at the end of a fun ride - but neh really you need to be careful down there, seen many a hidden copper down there (in the bushes and everything).

the last time me and my buddies went down we openned up down that section and before we knew it we were on the brakes to avoid attention from the the old bill. also there a few junctions that cagers tend not to look to well at - heck i was down there by meself on day and had one pull out on my at nearly triple figures, i needed a new set of trousers after that.

just keep you fingers crossed it cant be used. it may be worth a look but they may need more than one average speed. i know that if a trafic cop is following you they have to have an average speed over a quater mile, there are three cameras on gydinia way which is alot shorter than the distance you covered - and as people know cameras that far apart are prone to people stopping and waiting

I do seem to recall seeing a cop camera van loitering at the other end, near the Looo turnoff I think. It's not my favourite road anymore, it's often greasy, the road surface seems to have gone downhill over the last few winters, and I'm not that happy riding constantly watching the speedo!
Best to take care down there!

The cameras are - were on poles on the exits of Torpoint and Antony. Not the usual types, blue boxes I think. There was plenty of coverage about them on the tinterweb and motoring press. It was one of two sites the system was trialled at if I remember. A Google search produces lots of hits....

arent blue poles traffic master, if so nothing to worry about. trafficmaster suposidily only stores they midle few charactrs of the plate for average speed check and then tell the users of the taffic levels.

you often see the blue cameras on motor way bridges, i see them on a38 - most promonatly on the bridge at the parway industrial estate exit

Yeah i thought the blue ones were just traffic monitoring too, i know the ones on the tamar bridge are cus ive been in their control room. Do you also notice that around the country, a lot of the blue ones on bridges etc are just empty shells ?

Speed cameras are a rip off anyway. Not only does it cost about £60 it takes fucking weeks to get your picture sent. I don't know why anyone uses them.

A quick look on Google Street Map shows the cameras just at NSL signs at Antony. They are the ones for the average speed trial I believe. I'm pretty sure they aren't for traffic flow - it wouldn't make sense for two sets about 2 miles apart?
