Just on the local news. TfL intend to use the traffic cameras to enforce the 'no-waiting in a yellow box junction' rule in Central London. They're going to be issuing 100 quid fines to anyone they catch.

As far as bikes go, this is probably a good thing as we rarely get stuck in a box junction, but I can see there are going to a fair few irate car drivers out there. Apparently they are going to ticket buses who break this rule as well!

Hopefully, as it is run by the same people who enforce the bus lanes, they'll be paying a little less attention to bikes in those lanes for the time being.

Its always been illegal to enter a box junction if your exit isn't clear hasn't it?

I know the police up here enforce it. Smile

TfL just seem to be trying to get as much money as they can?

Yeah the rules haven't changed but nobody seems to enforce it in Central London at present. As I say, if it does help to free up junctions then I think bikes will benefit.

A bloody good idea! On my journey tonight, round the North Circular and through the tortuous Hanger Lane gyratory there was an almighty hold up made worse by idiots who go in the box junction when there is clearly nowhere to go! I can't understand the mentality if these twats - the woman who was sat there got my usual cus for people who sit in box junctions(Her window was down): -

" Do you like Blondie then?" I said,
"What?", she replied
" Do you like Blondie ?"
"Why do you ask?" she replied,
"Because you are sitting on Parallel Lines*, you stupid f*****g cow!"

I did not wait for her reply!

*This was an album Blondie did in the 70's

Hi

Remember it is legal to wait in a yellow box if you are turning right and the only thing stopping you is oncoming traffic.

All the best

Keith
