Only pay 2.5k for it if you think you can sell it on for the same.

Also bear in mind its barely different from a £1500 NC30.

If its for traffic commuting you'll be doing the whole commute in a crouch with little or no view behind in your mirrors. 500 twin would be a better bet for a london commute. Honda 400 V4s are very high geared, so from 20mph and below in first you might be teasing the clutch a bit.

whats difference between this and NC30? Dont really want backache for the entire journey! Just after something easy to use for a commute (mainly filtering slowly), but something that'll be quick when i open up the throttle, love responsiveness!

The 30 has an 18 inch rear wheel, the 35 a 17. The 35 has better suspension, a lower top speed (slightly) but more midrange. Bodywork.

You'll get a sharper throttle response from a twin or single generally, but any of these will have a much sharper response than a 2 stroke 125.

NC30 has RWU forks I think, slightly peakier engine, older. Not 1k worth of difference IMO.

For a slow filtering commute I'd recommend a cb500 or gs500. GS is cheaper, but CB lasts better, is more refined, and being water cooled should resist overheating better.

Kevo has a bike that looks identical to that, he seemed to really like it, rode it at Snetterton a couple of times.

Whether it's worth the extra over an NC30 or not is debatable, depend how much cash you have to spend I guess.

Rvf 400 West clours (non stock) obviously...

The're expensive for a hack...

Get a vfr400, almost identicle except they are much cheaper. Get them from 1000 quid.

Those 2 are big fun, and much faster tha 125s.

Rvfs are pretty much the best 400s you can buy, it got it all, handling power/torque, looks, archors...Reliability

If you found the nsr ok to commute the rvf should be ok. The rvfs so damn pretty you prob will end up locking it up for crap weather, ie winter...

Is get a vfr400, cheaper, and for a hack its not as "good".

he wants £2499 but is after a quick sell. I aint got enough money at the mo, waiting on a cheque for £1950 for my NSR, but was gonna spend some of that on some debt. If only he was a trader, i could put a deposit on it! Rolling Eyes

RVF for a commuter bike? Are you mad?

You'll end up with a back like robby's and a frequently fecked clutch. Confused

Hehehe, you'll be ok if you fit casters to you knees.

Mike - I would listen to Robby he speaks the truth. It's easy to get carried away on the looks, etc. It is a great looking bike but the paint is non standard which would make me ask questions.

\o/. First time for everything.

Young mike, you seem to be missing the point here. Sports 400 are designed to be ridden like 2 stroke 125s, but with more extreme riding positions. They all have relatively high first gears - you need them if you want a close ratio box that can have you on the other side of 130mph.

None of them will be good in traffic. Going from experience the Honda V4 engine gets quite hot and the heat drifts up to you, its a big heavy lump of metal with quite a small rad.

Go for a commuter bike for commuting. If you want it to look flashy, then go for a CBR6 or a Tcat.

I did it for just under a year, it wasn't that bad but it definitely isn't a good commuter. The clutch held up fine and the riding position didn't bother me - but at the end of every week the bike seemed to be running a little crap and needed a good thrashing to get it going again.

Definitely a toy, not a commuter. But a very nice toy Twisted Evil

Thanks, point taken - I assume this applies for all 400 sports, rather than just the honda's? Are ZX4R's just as bad for commuting?

Applies to all hard sports bikes really, not just 400's. Sounds like what you need is a nice little commuter, ER5 or similar...

An NC30 is a vfr400, an NC35 is an rvf400, a gull-arm cbr400 is an NC29 etc etc - it's just the model identifier Honda uses.

This is my NC30 last year, missing a couple decals.
