I 'think' you want to format and install 7, just in case.

ESET Smart Security does it all for me on the pc, on the mac, I'm naked and alone on the internet.

save your self a load of trouble and get AVG free.
Dont install all the extra bloatware like "link scanner" etc though.

Start with Free AVG, once it starts moaning about license expiry, switch to FreeAV.

If your PC is behind a Router with firewall, don't worry about getting more software. Just leave the windows firewall on.

Sounds to me like Pegeon downloaded the "Free AVG 20<something> 60 days licence" one, rather than the actual AVG Free. I too have not had any licence expire Thumbs Up

Ahahaha people still use AVG/Avast.

Both are so bloaty and horrible.

Microsoft security essentials. Used for 2-3 years at least now and had no issues.

Once downloaded something dodgy and it told me.

Uses barely any resources and never ever pops up in my face unless you download or try and execute a virus.

AVG has gone crap. Slows every single computer we have in the house (quite a few) to a complete crawl when it's updating, and it seems to update a LOT. We're looking for something better at the moment...

EDIT: We also tried Avast. It's not better.
