My CG is an older one without a CDI so the following information may be no use to you at all... However, there may be enough similarities.
I found from the wiring diagram for my CG that the ignition circuit is very simple, and essentially separate from the rest of the wiring loom (so changing flasher unit won't help). The only components involved are:
-- generator coils
-- points (I guess you won't have points)
-- magneto
-- ignition switch
-- ignition coil and condenser (I guess you don't have a condenser)
-- spark plug lead and cap
-- spark plug
So if there's no spark somethings wrong with one of those. All the ignition switch does is disconnect an earth wire from the ignition circuit (so when the ignition is on the electricity no longer just goes to ground, and instead goes to the ignition coil), so you can easily check if the switch is faulty by disconnecting two of the wires coming out the back of it - see wiring diagram for which ones.
Otherwise, check the points gap (if you have points) and spark plug gap, check/clean all connections and earths in the ignition circuit, check that the centrifugal arm things in the magneto (which advance the timing at higher revs) aren't stuck (although you might not have them at all...), and, if all else fails, try replacement generator coils.
Also, I bought a dodgy ignition coil a while ago, so it's entirely possible that you have a faulty replacement!
Again, this information applies to my older, more primitive CG, so check the details of all this! You really need a wiring diagram - it'll be in the Haynes manual, if you have it.
Hope this helps a bit! |

when measuring the ignition coil , remember there are two coils , the low power side at 12 v and the higher side , spark side .
So test coil earth to live ,and coil earth to spark plug end.
If there's no spark at all then other than a silly singular wiring fault , I'd trace back through the cdi , check the pulse trigger coil ( a tiny coil that sits next to flywheel to trigger spark coil) and finally , depending on your electrical system , the power generating coil from the genny to the ignition coil. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
