I have seen a nice bike advertised but it is miles away from where I live. Would you ever buy a bike without seeing it?

At least get photos. I have bought a few bikes off ebay, but of course you haven't actually bought a bike until the other person has your money. So you could always say no when you get there.

You can also get the RAC to check a bike over for you if you can't get there to view it your self.

well, I bought my current bike on ebay. It was too far to go and see it so I bid and won without having looked at it. However the guy met me half way to pick the bike up, I took my bike instructor with me so he could check the bike over, and I didn't part with my money until all that had been done!

Bike is fine.

I admit you do have to be a bit mad to buy a bike that way though! Shocked

Personally I wouldn't. I'd want to make sure the bike was ok, you can't beat a good walk round and a tyre kick!

I would never buy one without seeing it. I would need to see the body work, see it running, give it a test ride, see the tax book and try a good haggle.

FUCK NO. I did, ive had it 3 weeks and it broke down today. Apparently its a 250 repair job, about 200 of which is just taking the engine out and putting back in. Fucking twats. They lie and cheat you and pretend to do work. Mine werent even cleaned... they said theyd serviced it... they didnt. It has shit loads wrong with it. Im going to try and get some money back or some compromise done, but somehow i doubt im gonna get anywhere. Meanwhile its like 20 miles away in a garage i dont even know how to get to.
Oh and the people i brought from mucked me around shitloads too before i even got it. Mate id get it from nearby, and from a dealer. DEFINITELY not from private and miles away, thats asking for trouble.

i always agree on a price before i go to see a bike and if it has more damage than they described i will haggle with them, unless its a shed, then i'll walk away. Very Happy Thumbs Up

If it were cheap and plenty of info was given. if there are no pics or you have not seen it, expect a wreck.

No, I would never buy a bike I hadn't been able to ride first, let alone look at!

Only if its cheap.

I'm planning on buying a zx6r without seeing it from london because its only £500 and I know if it turns out to be a dog I can always break it for more.

this may be difficult, some dealers don't even have stock of what you want until you've paid a deposit

See the above, as Bonny_ricardo has already said, not a good idea.

But if you're buying second hand alot of the time you won't have the option of a test ride.
