 |
|
Ello
So after basically a month trying to sort out my new build, I'm finally able to return the motherboard !
With only the RAM,CPU & 1 SSD, Windows explorer continued to crash, so with the other components tested independently the motherboard is going back!
The next question is
Do I buy the same, high rated motherboard (Asus Z97-A) ?
Or Do I mix it up and buy a completely new motherboard?
The Asus got my vote initially because of the high reviews, low power consumption and the fan control. Extreme Overlocking wasn't a high priority, but the basic options with the Z97-A would of come in handy latter in life.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

^^^Woah! Stowelly.
I've had a right PITA motherboard by Gigabyte the X99.
It died. Ok I accept that things can fail.
I installed the replacement board and it went into a boot sequence loop due to a USB PCI card. Others on the Gigabyte forum having issues with wi-fi cards.
Is it the case that I have to spend hours researching every bloody component and every combination? Grrr! ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

This is the problem
The Asus Z97-A is one of the best 97 boards available, great reviews & brilliant feedback.
Despite all this, I got a duff board.
I can either gamble with a less recieved mobo, or try to accept it as a one off |

I really like ASUS boards. I have a Maximus Formula VI at the mo. Probably my fith build with Asus. Only issue i ever had was one of the very first SATA 3 6g/s boards had a known issue which used to cause the HDD to crap itself every now and then. Cant remember the name of the controller but i tend to go for Intel SATA controllers now.
On a side note I used to like picking them up from auction houses as faulty stock when the CPU's moved from sandybridge to ivybridge. Loads of people were buying them for the Ivy CPU but the bios was outdated so would RMA them. I would boot them up with a sandybridge cpu and update bios to run ivybridge...that was it! Made enough money to pay for the new rig i had at the time |
