It's an eye opener for people yet to master the art of filtering and makes an interesting watch. But how dangerous is half the stuff he does? Is this average?

Either all these countries have incredibly wide lanes, or all their drivers keep a perfect paralell line with the driver in front...
If that was the UK you'd get mr audi swaying left right and centre like a pendulum half way through filtering |

I didn't realise that the health and safety brigade had made their way to biking forums.....
A traffic offence, really, sorry, I'll sit in the corner and cower. No one ever speeds, never commits something as horrific as the dreaded "traffic offence"
He makes progress, doesn't cut anyone up. Gets where he was going quicker than the cars. |

He went over a pavement later in the video
Wish my gopro wasn't fucked, my filtering can be a bit shifty if i'm feeling it, otherwise if i'm tired i'm pretty chill
I think I like hooliganism though...it's hard to calm the beast when some dude on a zx6r is trying to race you
or some guy on a 125 SM is having filter wars with you ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

For legality, it's pretty crap, for speed it's not great either.
For getting some sleep it's spot on. ____________________ My Flickr |

He sticks way too close to cars, and has to go slowly because of it. Go fully in the oncoming lane if it's clear. That gives you more visibility into gaps opening up (potential pedestrians or cars turning out of side-streets), protection from people randomly opening their doors, and more reaction time in general against hazards, e.g. u-turning drivers who are fed up with the queue.
Watch for cars turning out of side streets towards you though - they normally only look over their shoulder, they won't be looking for oncoming traffic.
Side-streets are also a danger because cars may decide pull out and dart down them. So slow down and be ready to e-stop going past.
For the UK, don't cross solid white lines. The Highway code is ambiguous on whether it's OK to cross them when the traffic is jammed up and stopped (does a car with running engine and driver count as stationary or not?), but I don't unless it's a serious jam.
But in other countries, the norms are different. In Ireland and the US, many roads have solid white (or yellow in US) lines for miles, yet a bike may safely overtake, while the UK tends to be fairly conservative in putting the solid white lines in place, and the lines are more worthy of respect.
On the continent, a lot of times where there are white lines, approaching the driver in front will suggest you want to overtake, and they will start moving over in the lane to let you past. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

So basically, this guy passed his test, was amazed at how great filtering is, decided to make a video to brag about it to other people, didn't realise it's normal practice, and ended up making what looked like a bog-standard everyday commuting video, aka the most boring 13 minutes ever.
