That elusive grin factor. We all know it. First time on a powerful bike, for example. But after awhile, it gets a bit stale. The power becomes normal, and we don't grin. I haven't been smiling for ages, anyway.

Until today (cue smoke and eery mechanical noises).. as I exited a junction, I accelerated hard and I heard that classic TT sound reverberate around me, my engine screaming within my loins and an induction noise so awesome it would make a badger cum uncontrollably. I couldn't stop grinning for 5 minutes and patted my bike, stroking it erotically showing my great affection towards it.

So I ask you, dear reader, when was your most recent grin?

Mine was this evening when I was putting on my gear for the ride home from work.
There's just something about a freshly washed hi-viz vest that gives me a full-on chubby. Embarassed

New tyres last week - this set of bends on the way back from picking the bike up, tipped the bike into 'em and just kept leaning further and further over. Haha - eh, t'was much fun. Not used to that amount of traction after such aged rubber.

Came steaming around an uphill left hand bend which levels out at the top where there is a slight left kink and a bumb, hit it about 80, front goes light then maybe a couple inches of air under the front.

Proper TT rider now y0!

I have a grin factor when I ride with mates. Much less when riding alone.

To be honest replaced the rear tyre last week or the week before no idea time flies so fast. But I've got to say I hate having new tyres they seem to stick constantly to the road when going around corners, grips fine but too much grip I don't know.

I'm weird like that.

Took the baffle out again last night, not been feeling it particularly well for the past few days, fluffing up corners and just not getting it right, but this morning's ride to work was fantastic, no worry about grip, sounded ridiculously gorgeous and loved it.

Another one is putting your head below your screen so you can't hear any wind noise and hitting 14k rpm then a clutchless upshift, it's proper race bike sound on an IL4, everyone should try this

Last time I was properly grinning was out on the pitbike sm round a go kart track a few weeks back, being able to properly push the limits of grip without fear of killing myself, or going to quickly. I did end up crashing, but was having some really good front and rear end slides which I held before that!

Riding on the road I don't think I ever get that much enjoyment. Maybe I'm dead inside.

No and would never intend to be anything like him it's just when you are used to old tyres, new tyres seem like they have too much grip and stick to everything. I'm just personally not much for that feeling.

On Saturday, out for a proper thrash, came round one of my favourite sweepers, really leant over winding in the throttle hard watching for my exit before pinning it wide open...back end decides to take a slip and squirm before digging in and catapulting me into the straight like a boss...best. feeling. ever.

Much as I denigrate them, riding nose to tail with a Firestorm over Belmont, his open pipes an audio overload. He knew his stuff so I could trust his judgement, very little traffic, no sign of Plod. Ten miles of fast and safe riding. I salute him for giving me one of those sublime moments in life.

I hopefully will have grin on my face when wild camping in Scotland. The bike is ready, so am I.

The power or speed of the bike is not what makes me happy... It's the roads.

I got it anytime I've got to fix something on my bike and I'm successful. On the road, I'm so calm and focused at the time, that there's no way anything could make me happy or angry. I just fly on the edge, pushing it to the limit and even my heart beat slows down, how calm I am, but still razor sharp focused. Laughing
