Yeah, two in such a short space of time. It happens.

Anyway, this is what I've posted on Amazon:

Quote:
I can only assume all the glowingly positive reviews for this jacket were made by shills but the original "£169" price did help fool me into thinking this might be a genuine bargain.

It's not, it's a cheap imitation bike jacket. The quality of the leather is poor, the construction is dire and the belt-buckle is like something out of a Tesco xmas-cracker. Overall it screams "cheap!"

If you're a kid looking for something to wear to a party, this will do you fine. If you're looking for a jacket to use on a bike, don't even think about this.

Mine will be going back first thing on monday for a refund.

UPDATE.
After arranging a return and refund and pointing out that I consider the item to be inaccurately described and should thus have the postage cost of the return refunded too I recieved a call from Biker Gear. The call seemed very nice and the chap said he would refund the £8.50 cost of return postage as a "goodwill gesture". Shortly after sending him a copy of the postage reciept, as requested, I got another call from him saying he would no longer refund the postage for either direction due to the "negative review" I had left here. I have filed this as a dispute:

"The item was described as a biker jacket. Upon reciept of item it was clear it was a fashion jacket, not safe for use on a motorbike. After contact with seller he said he would refund cost of jacket, cost of posting it to me and as a "goodwill gesture" would also refund the cost of me posting it back. Shortly after I emailed him the reciept for the postage costs, the amount of which I'd already told him and he'd agreed, he called me back again and said that as I had left a negative review for the product he would not refund me my postage in EITHER direction. As I understand the law he is obliged under the distance-selling regulations to refund me the postage from his end to mine regardless, and refund me for cost from me to him if the item is "not as described". This latter point may be open to 'opinion' or 'interpretation' in this case but cost of postage from him to me is not."

After the second call I was left with the impression he'd never intended to refund me any postage and the original call had been a wind-up. Whatever, proceed with great caution with this company...if you have any doubt whatsoever about a product from them, consider the way I have been treated, you may be left well out of pocket.

Aye. Thumbs Up

I don't know what it is with some of these sellers but grossly mis-describing an item and then shill-reviewing it just to scam orders confounds common sense. Either that or there were 25 genuine buyers who really are fucktards. Only one other review was similar to mine, basically describing the jacket as cheap shit. The leather is thin pebble-dashed shit, all the stitching is poorly done and of single-line, the 'armour' wouldn't stand up to an impact greater than banging an elbow against a door-frame and the metal bits (buckle in particular) are like something out of a cheap cracker. And the chemical stink that came out the packet when I opened it, fuck me! I'm not actually sure the jacket isn't made of that plastic imitation leather. Label inside: MADE IN PAKISTAN.

I'd already accepted via email I wasn't going to get the cost of return postage refunded, couldn't be arsed to argue. But then he calls me and gives it all the reason and light and he'll refund it as a "goodwill". I thought great, I'll come post here about that. Nice to tell the good stuff as well as the bad. Then he calls back with the bollocks. All "sorry" this and "sorry" that, but "as you've left such a bad review we can't refund your postage in either direction now, we'd go out of business".

Da fuk?! Nutter! Eh?

Yeah, he managed to be a cocky arrogant twat while still sounding reasonable and pleasant. Which is why I think he was winding me up. His tone didn't match his message or delivery, if that makes sense. That and the speed with which his second call followed the first. Like he suddenly thought to go look at the product-page seconds after calling me, saw the negative review and called me straight back? Thinking

Agreed. unfortunately the reviews they've paid for are pretty glowing.

I've just rated Hetz's review as helpful, if everyone does the same it'll appear on the first page of reviews.

I felt it might nudge me towards the Harley. Shifty

Spada do one and I saw one in the flesh over the weekend. It was alright, kind of, but at £169 not 'alright' enough.

Harley do a pukka looking one but it's £450 and made in china, so they can fuck right off.

Hmm. I bought Bikers Gear UK cheap kevlar jeans a while back, mostly because I'd been given an Amazon voucher. The coverage was actually OK for the price, but not to the extent claimed in the advert. Mildly annoying, as they made a big point of that. Presumably Bikers Gear UK have eyes with which to see that the marketing doesn't match the reality.

Most of the reviews were positive though, and don't feel like shills, so it's possible that Bikers Gear UK just have a lot of customers with low expectations.

Would not use Bikers Gear UK again.
