Hi
There can be differences. Some car oils can cause problems with bike clutches, but I use car oil in bikes much of the time and never had it cause a clutch issue.
I tend to take the view that while strictly speaking the bike oil might give the engine a marginally longer life, the bike itself is not likely to last long enough for that difference to be of any relevance.
All the best

As long as it doesn't have "friction modifiers" as these are usually the bits that'll cause issues with your clutch.
What's the price difference like? If you can get a bike specific oil for £1 more, then I'd get that just for that piece of mind. IMO. ____________________ My Flickr |

Hi
Not sure how much of an issue synthetic is beyond paranoia from 30 years ago when it was new and it did cause odd problems (some early ones had limited amounts of the additives used to swell seals a touch, and so tended to leak a bit).
Used synthetic CAR oil in bikes without clutch problems. If it hasn't got friction modifiers in it I wouldn't worry about it too much.
All the best
