Hi All,

Ive been trying to do a bit of research in what engines will fit my CG...

A quite common answer was all old single hondas from the same era were derivatives of one another... for example the biggest i could get in would be a XL 185.

however looking into the new chinese models, i have seen these Lifan that fit the XL 185 so i assume they fit a CG?

moving on from that, the same Lifan model fits a CRF 230...?

does that mean a CRF 230 would fit a CG?

I'm following a guy on instagram that has a CCM 230 in a CG which is really nice. from all accounts the CCM and CRF are identical...

CRF 230? can it be done?

please can somebody help?

thanks

rob

The honda OHC small capacity engines with a similar design should all fit, ie the XLR 125 and XLR 185 engines share the same mounting points and ignition system as the CG. The CRF 230 also has the same style of engine and I would assume it would fit. However when I looked into it myself, finding either of those engines is impossible or way to expensive.

I've also seen a Chinese 200cc pushrod engine fitted into a cityfly frame (again same mounting points as a CG) without any modifications needed. It had chituma stamped on the clutch cover.

yeah, well im hoping it will!

barely any turn up in the UK but ive seen a few CRF engines on US ebay go for $400-$500 which is about the same price as a chinese Lifan 200cc copy...

just the shipping will be a killer!

thanks for your help...!
