I'm pretty sure there's something in Roadcraft about using your superior acceleration to get up to speed quickly, which in turn creates a safe gap behind you. I could be wrong, but the reasoning makes sense in my head.

Every policeman I've come across in the course of my biking life has claimed to ride himself. I think it's just a standard thing that they are taught in Police College.

IF the rozzer really has a fireblade, I do not think he would find a 60bhp Divvy accelerating off from the lights up to 25 - 30mph fast at all. If it ever happens again ask the copper what model fireblade do they ride, the year and engine capacity. Wink

You could be on to something.
Even the pc who came out to take my statement said he rode a bike.

I'm sure someone posted on here at some point how they caught out a traffic copper who was all like "i ride a 'blade man"

If they really are bikers then you'd think they give us a bit of leeway rather than the lecture, fine & points.

Should have asked what a blade and if he responds with anything other than "mk1 Blade" then you should inform him he doesn't ride a blade and therefore won't get laid as the mk1 blade is the only blade.

i got pulled in my car once for accelerating "harshly"

rozzers stuck up my arse for about a mile, so close that i couldn't see the front of their car (unmarked police car). after a while they got bored an pulled me

it was like good cop bad cop, one would be aggressive then the next would say something like "hey i like the car etc etc.."

quite surreal really

He just wanted a chase. I had exactly the same thing happen to me on a Chinese 125. I won't say "nobody laugh" because I did literally laugh in the ridiculous twerp's face. He took the huff, so I never got to hear if he rode one of those Ninjabladecats. Sad

Only once for me, and he told me once he was *thinking* of doing his test.

Another time in my classic Mini, I was pulled over for speeding (80 in a 50) by an unmarked people carrier. The main guy in their plain clothed group said he has a 60's Mini and began showing me photos of it on his phone. Asked me if my engine ran well and I said, "You tell me!". They let me off and told me to look after it Laughing

They love being friendly.

I wonder if all these coppers ride their bikes following all speed limits and accelerate everywhere at the speed of an overloaded cement mixer...or cane it like any other biker Thinking

Either way it makes them cunts in my opinion.

I think you're right as I've had identical experiences! There was one which was true though. I was at a party, turns out it's wall-to-wall rozzers and one of them rides a sportsbike.

He was plastered, rode off and died that night. The lady holding the party (a gorgeous rozzette) begged him not to sling a leg over but he ignored her.

So I do get mildly miffed when the old bill pulls someone over for absolutely nothing at all and especially accelerating too hard on a Divvy!!!!!????? Is that possible???? Is this a nitrous busa wearing Divvy clothes?

This is a danger of accelerating too fast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvaxpLgj0To

But when there are no hazards - no junctions, no stopped traffic that may suddenly do something weird, no car doors that may suddenly open in your path, traction is good - then there's little risk, and indeed it is safer not to have people close behind you.

Perhaps he thought you went about it too flamboyantly? Was there a prolonged high-rev roar with extended clutch slipping on a noisy exhaust, possibly with front end starting to come up? Still not much of an excuse for plod if it's all legal though.

"Why'd you take off so quick?"

"Wanted to see how fast I could get by the time I got to the other side of the junction"

I went to Bristol today for a bit of a mooch around and on the way home I was going through town, caught up with another biker who decided to stay behind a police car... I cut up the inside of both of them and disappeared into the distance without so much as a flash of lights

Guess it all depends on how pissed off they are really.

Even on other occasions I'll try for a quick start from the lights, next to a police car or not and never had any problem (may have gone slightly over the speed limit on occasion too)
