er5 + renthals + broke my thumb in march = aching thumbs...

the non broken one too though, maybe putting more weight on it to relieve the broken one?

am i just being a pussy?

has aftermarket shocks too, so the rear is higher than standard.

what do? mtfu, or buy standard bits?

Don't grip the bars with your hands, grip the tank with your knees. The bars are for steering, not for holding onto, you shouldn't be taking your weight on your hands.

Adjust the levers to the most comfortable position.

i don't think i can help it, with the shocks and lower bars, it's a more sporty riding position and i'm leaning more forward. never had thumb issues on instructors gs500 with stock bars.. but i did on his bandit which also had renthals.

hadn't thought about adjusting the levers. will have a look.

Leaning forwards notwithstanding, if you are taking the weight on your wrists, you are doing it wrong. I ride a sportsbike (well, a sports tourer) with clipons and I don't take my weight on my wrists. I couldn't if I wanted to because one of my wrists was smashed to bits years ago.

If you're gripping with your throttle hand, try a Cramp Bustertm, it does wonders for my weak, girlish grip.

Genuinely love 'em, a simple idea that works very well.

I've broken my right thumb and wrist and shattered my left thumb.

I don't suffer from any pain and I don't use Renthals especially ones that mean I'm in a bad riding position.

There's a hint in there, get a set of ER5 bars and the problem will magically go away.
