It's the biggest, and most famous, cycle race in the world.

It is held in France in July each year, runs for 3 weeks, and the race goes all around France. One year the race goes clockwise, the next anti-clockwise, and sometimes crosses borders eg this year it's just going over the border into Switzerland. The finish line is always on the Champs Elysess in Paris. It's probably one of the most extreme sports in the world as the riders need to be top-class athletes due to the hardships of the race and the mental and physical endurance required.

I remember going in 2008 just months after passing my test.

If anything it was much easier than riding in the UK. Better roads. Better discipline (outside of Paris). Better scenery. A more biker friendly attitude.

There's nothing to be concerned about.

Get yourself a high vis vet, a spare bulb kit and European road atlas and you're all set.
