I am with adrian flux for my insurance.

They have told me that the bump a named driver on a car policy in 2011 had is still unsettled and should have been disclosed. They are adding £86 quid to my premium because if it.

The third party admitted liability and the occupants of my car have been payed out including the driver and the repairs to the car.

Now, thier wording is: have you had any claims or accidents in the last 5 years.

No I haven't, and even if they stretch it then maybe I have claimed via the named driver. This is very unfair but maybe they could argue the insurance was claimed on and it was in my name ok!

When I took the insurance they told me I could not use my car no claims with my bike no claims bonus to use on this policy so why are they using claims against me that are only loosely connected and disregarding my car when it may mean money off?

Complete tossers. I am going to drag this out and get some sort of justification off them. I won't be renewing I know that!!!

I would go through the motions with their complaints procedure. Such that it is. I'm guessing it'll follow the usual line of we are right, you are wrong, pay us, oh look we'll cancelled your policy, then you'll have to say refused insurance when you try and get another, no of course that's not blackmail.

Then go to the Financial Ombudsman and see where it goes.

DO not cancel the policy yourself or you will be ass raped for fees and administration costs. In fact if you cancel you may actually owe them money to stop your policy Shocked

That said I'm finding this unusual. They usually wait until you renew or have an accident to screw you over. I guess bonuses must be tight this year.

They often ask one question and then have some hovertext or a click-to-reveal sidebar that reveals that they're actually asking a completely different one.

In your case somewhere deep in the small-font they'll have (sort of) asked if you or anyone on the same policy has made any claim, suffered any loss or been involved in any accident regardless of blame in the past 9,000 years.

Go through their web site and find the exact question that you were asked, both the up front and the sneaky part. Quote the bit that's most helpful to you. Push it to the FOS which will cost them £400+, win, lose or draw.

You probably won't win, but have a laugh with it.

Does it really cost the scumbags, even if they win?

AFAIK it costs them £400 up front just for the arbitration.

Which is binding on them, but not on you. Wink

It will definitely cost them whatever the outcome.

Might be easier to list insurers who whom that doesn't apply.

The reason is the same as why you can only use your no claims bonus on one policy at a time, or why car no claims and bike no claims are incompatible but you have to disclose car accidents on a bike policy and vice versa, and why your premiums rise even if you're involved in a no-fault claim and fully recover costs from the other party.

Because insurers are tight fisted, money grubbing bastards with the power of legal requirement behind them, and thus a captive audience.

I honestly didn't realise I should disclose the matter or I would have at the time the bit that sticks in my throat is the claims transfer to the both policies but the no claims don't!

I wonder if we could get this practice looked at. Maybe an e petition?

To be fair....the claim was made through your insurance not the named drivers so you really should have disclosed the accident, regardless of fault. I think you were hoping a wording technicality would dig you out if you ever needed to claim but inforturtunately insurance companies are pretty smart when it comes to not paying out.
