Ever bought an insurance write-off?

Anyone had any experience of buying a insurance write-off on the cheap and doing it up as new?

I'm tempted and need some advice?

What do the Catagories (A, D etc) given to the bike refer to?

The bike in question is a Cat D write off.

A and B can never go back on the road.

C and D were 'uneconomical to repair' and can go back on the road, though your insurance may be a bit higher.

A is worst (should be crushed into a cube) down to D not being all that bad - eg. fairing damage that would cost more than the value of the bike to fix if you were to get new fairings from the manufacturer.
