Hey all,

So like a numpty I have taken them out of the packet and not paid attention to the order. Both seem to be pretty flat (not tapered) and neither seem to have a lip on like I would expect for the scraper ring. They are both black however one has a thin silver strip running around the outside of it. Also neither have any markings on. Any ideas as to which is which?

Cheers

cg is a four stroke and would normally have three rings.........

see cmsnl for your bike and post a link on here.........

sounds as if the oil control ring is missing.........may be a 3 piece oil ring or slotted single ring........

the ring with the chrome periphery sounds like the top ring.....rings usually have a marking to suggest the correct way up........... post up yours with cmsnl exploded views.........and get a manual, your gunna need it!

I've fitted the control ring which is completely different so I couldn't mistake it. I was also thinking that the chrome/silver edged one would be the top ring but wanted to be sure. Neither ring has any markings on. They are pattern rings and look slightly different to the ones on cmsnl (different colour shade). I have changed rings before and I am working out of the Haynes, however it does not explain fitting rings and how to tell them apart.
