Well, as the title says, just wondering if anyone on here has/had a DT.

I have a 1997 DTR model, it has done nothing but break down and cost me money. Sad

Anyone else had a similar story with one?

I know the DTRE and DTX's are supposed to be bulletproof, but my DTR has been nothing but a head ache.

I have a couple of the 200cc variants at full power (34 bhp), never had any real bother with them.

Thinking You use them daily?

Mine seems to be breaking left right and centre.

Selling up and getting a CG 125 now. Get a bigger bike at 19. Job jobbed.

I had a TDR 125 once (same engine as the DT) so engine wise from my experience I can say it was bullet proof (and quick for a 125.)

But then again my friend had a black DT 1997 and he had endless issues with it.

Yes but only on dry days, I clean the powervalve every 1 k miles and change the plugs every 500 miles and have never had any real bother with the engines which are both around 8-9 k miles.

Every 500 miles plug change? Shocked

And cleaning the powervalve? Laughing

Don't do either of these, just check tyre pressures and chain, if all is good job done.

My DT only goes 50MPH. Sad

Its already had one. Sad

Ran it in at 30MPH under 5K RPMs.

Starts fine compression is good to the feel, not had a chance to compression test it (mainly because it'd involve taking it to a mechanic).

I'm getting told it could be this and that, I'm doing checks and then finding out it isn't that, and it might be something else. Sad

Sounds like a typical old 2smoker to me Razz

My DTR(E) was mint, but it was an 07 with really low mileage. Topped out at around 85 on standard gearing.

If you fit an aftermarket pipe and air filter, then to make it run properly instead of correcting the jetting you should go out and buy a 4stroke 125 instead to solve all the running problems! Wink

Maybe you have used you vast 2stroke experience to re-jet your DTR's carb to perfection and other people that have had different DT125 experiences to yours have left well alone?

Wee bit childish, eh? You need to go to learn how to read. I was telling him he couldn't make a 4 stroke fast.

DT's aren't geared for speed anyway.
