Honda XR125
My first bike. In all honesty, I don't remember much about it. It hauled alot of my drum gear when I was 17, and never broke down. Build quality was brilliant.

Got this when I passed my test. Thrashed it, abused it. I have no idea how much I spent on it over the 2 years I owned it, but it was alot. Obviously, I knew fuck all about bikes at the time. Otherwise I would have gotten at least a DRZ. .
Old engine, heavy and no good above 80mph. It was alot of fun through the bends, but everyday use was a nightmare (even if I didn't realise it at the time). I would steer well clear personally, much better bikes to be had. Standard equipment was poor, and I got the feeling Honda had scraped the bottom of their parts bin to make the bike.

I had a short 4 month break from motorbikes (was abroad), but when I got back I needed a bike. Saw this advertised for £600. Full years MOT, 6 months tax. Insurance £200, at 20 years old.
I remember arriving to pick it up, and it being alot smaller than I had envisaged. Riding home was.. interesting. 140bhp between my legs!
Was a fantastic ride. Never let me down, and the power was intoxicating. It was a barge, weighing well over 200kg, but it handled its weight well. I only sold as it was far too much power, and I couldn't trust myself at the time. I'm glad I made that decision.

Bit shit.

I was suprised with the power it had, and also loved how small and compact it was. In the end I sold it due to fuelling issues, which I couldn't be fucked to sort. I also found out after awhile my legs hated me for riding it, with cramps becoming too regular. I would love another one though, for the shits and giggles.

Bought it to try it, but my god the brakes were shit. Lacks any kinda of power, wallowy and generally bleugh. Never had any issues with it though. Sold for a nice profit.

Loved this bike. Got me through a hell'ish winter with no complaints. Easy to work on, power was acceptable and was comfy enough for the commute. Kept this for awhile.

Bought this to make some money, which didn't quite work out (ended up breaking even). Easy to ride, usable power, great for a beginner.

Great bike. Picked it up at a bargain price of £450, and it was very clean. It did try to kill me though, shitting its rear wheel bearings at 70mph. . I had to replace the swingarm after that, but was inexpensive to do. Got a good years use out of the bike. Very comfy, engines brilliant too.

Had this well over a year now. Perfect bike for me, with an engine I love. Incredibly cheap for me to insure. Not sure what else there is to say, there are much better bikes out there, but bang for buck this for me is brilliant. I took this picture a few days after I bought the bike, since then a few bits have changed.
Not sure what my next bike will be. Everytime I look at my FZR I get that pause and smile, so I may keep it for another year. |

You're spot on about not trusting oneself with the EXUP - unfortunately I didn't make the same decision, and paid the price - 24 was too young to have that much bike I think |

I'm cool, honest. .
I had that exup when I just turned 20. Had it for a good 5 months, but the constant ragging I gave it would have landed me in the ground. I was way too young. It did make the ride to my ex girlfriends Uni (Royal Holloway) a little quicker though.
I have had older bikes mainly down to insurance. I have just turned 25, and to insure a GSXR750 k5 is around £250. Last year it was £600ish IIRC. It's the only newer bike I'm interested in at the moment. Now it's more reasonable, I'll be getting one either this year or next. . |
